Head of the Industrial Engineering Department at Yalova University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Sabuncu, along with faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fuat Şimşir and Research Assistant Ahmet Emrah Ateş, paid a courtesy and collaboration visit to Niken company together with Yalova Provincial Director of Industry, İlhan Aydın.
Within the scope of the university–industry collaboration vision, the delegation met with Niken’s Chairman of the Board, M. Ömer Bayram, as well as representatives from the human resources, industrial engineering, and production departments. The delegation examined the company’s production lines on-site and received detailed information about operational processes.
Digital Transformation and Optimization-Oriented Projects on the Agenda
During the meetings, the following project topics—aimed at combining academic knowledge with industrial experience—were discussed:
- Digital Twin Applications: Creating a digital twin of the company’s assembly lines using system simulation software
- Production Planning: Optimization of production planning processes through the ERP system
- Line Balancing: Improving efficiency at assembly stations through line balancing studies
- Lean Manufacturing: Adoption of lean manufacturing methodologies across the enterprise and implementation of process improvement projects
Internship Agreement for Students
As the first concrete outcome of the visit, an agreement was reached to enable Industrial Engineering students of Yalova University to gain sectoral experience by completing internships in relevant departments at Niken.
This meeting with Niken—an innovative company providing solutions in automotive lighting systems and accessories—is expected to be strengthened in the coming period through joint projects and long-term protocols.
